Las casas de hadas son pequeñas estructuras que los humanos construimos en la naturaleza para que los seres feéricos que allí habitan las visiten.
Esta tradición, al parecer, procede del noreste de Estados Unidos (de Maine y Vermont especialmente), donde las familias han estado construyendo estas diminutas casitas durante décadas.
Los materiales que se utilizan en su construcción deben encontrarse en la naturaleza también: palitos, cortezas de árbol, hierba seca, piedrecitas, caracolas, plumas, algas, piñas, frutos del bosque (como, por ejemplo, nueces),... Estas son algunas de las cosas que se pueden utilizar en su fabricación. Así, aunque dejemos la casita en el bosque, al estar hecha de materiales procedentes del mismo lugar, no contaminarán ni ensuciarán el lugar.
Es muy bonito realizar esta actividad en grupo, con la familia o los amigos, ya que se realiza al aire libre y nos permite pasear por el campo y conectar con la naturaleza, enseñándonos a respetarla y disfrutarla a un tiempo. Aunque también se pueden construir en nuestros jardines o incluso en nuestras casas, ¿por qué no? ¿Acaso no hay también duendes domésticos?
Lo mágico es que creamos un mundo en miniatura para ofrecérselo como regalo a los seres feéricos, con la esperanza de que les agrade y lo visiten a menudo. Por ello, no estaría de más, dejarles dentro o a la puerta de la casita un poquito de leche y un trocito de pan con miel, unas galletitas o un pastelito. Cualquiera de estas cosas les agradará, y atraerá a los más desconfiados.

Fairy houses are small structures that humans construct in nature so that fey creatures that inhabit there go and visit them.
This tradition, apparently, comes from the northeast of the United States (Maine and Vermont in particular), where families have been building these tiny houses for decades.
The materials used in their construction should also be found in nature: twigs, bark, dry grass, pebbles, shells, feathers, seaweed, pine cones, nuts,... These are some of the things that can be used in their manufacture. Thus, although we leave the house in the woods, as it is made of materials from the same place, it will not pollute the place.
It is very nice to do this activity in groups, with family or friends, since it takes place outdoors and allows us to walk through the countryside and connect with nature, teaching us to respect it and enjoy it at once. Although we can also build them on our gardens or even in our houses, why not? Are not there also domestic elves?
The magic of this is that we create a miniature world to offer it as a gift to the fey beings, with the hope that they will like it and visit it often. Therefore, it would be nice to let for them something to ear inside the house or at the door: maybe a little milk and a piece of bread with honey, some cookies or a tiny cake. Any of these things will please them, and will attract the most suspicious.
