CLASIFICACIÓN DE LOS ESPÍRITUS DE LA NATURALEZA/CLASSIFICATION OF NATURE SPIRITS

Mi opinión, como la de otros muchos autores, es que los seres feéricos son tan diversos e innumerables que no se les puede clasificar fácilmente. Sin embargo, como el ser humano siempre necesita establecer un orden a las cosas y darle un nombre a todo, los ocultistas, desde el alquimista Paracelso hasta el moderno Eliphas Levi, han dividido los espíritus de la Naturaleza en cuatro grupos principales que corresponden a los cuatro elementos clásicos:

*Gnomos: Espíritus de la tierra. Su emperador es Cob. Avaros y de temperamento melancólico. Su estatura normal no supera los dos palmos, aunque pueden alargarse hasta llegar a ser gigantes.

*Silfos/Sílfides: Espíritus del aire. Su emperador es Paralda. Las sílfides son incostantes y de temperamento colérico. Son, por su dimensión y fuerza, muy superiores a los hombres, como sucede a la gente de los vientos. No tienen morada fija.

*Salamandras: Espíritus del fuego. Su emperador es Djin. Las salamandras son iracundas y de temperamento sanguíneo. De aspecto son largas, delgadas y secas. No tienen morada fija.

*Ondinas: Espíritus del agua. Su emperador es Hicks. Las ondinas son delicadas, frías, volubles y flemáticas. De aspecto son como los seres humanos.



Es interesante tener en cuenta esta clasificación, pero muchos seres se salen de estos cuatro grupos. Además, cada tradición les da nombres distintos y existen muchas versiones sobre el nombre de sus soberanos (por ejemplo, Ariel es otro nombre que se da al rey de los espíritus del aire).

* Ondines: Spirits of the water. His emperor is Hicks. The ondines are delicate, cold, fickle and phlegmatic. They look just as human beigns.

It is interesting to note that classification, but many beings are out of these four groups. Moreover, each tradition gives them different names and there are many versions about the name of their rulers (eg, Ariel is another name given to the king of the spirits of the air).
